A new Global Citizens Report on the State of GMOs, “The GMO Emperor has no Clothes,” highlights scientific research and empirical evidence from around the globe that demonstrate the failure of genetically engineered (GE) seeds and crops to deliver on their advertised promises. According to coverage from Pesticide Action Network, “[t]his much is clear: after 25 years of research, 14 years of commercialization and millions of dollars in public funding, genetically engineered crops have failed to deliver on promises again and again. GE crops neither increase yield nor provide nutritional benefits. No drought or salt-tolerant crops have yet been commercially developed; GE crops won’t feed the world and - unlike agroecological approaches - GE technology can’t help farmers in the U.S. or anywhere adapt to the complex and shifting challenges of global climate, water, energy and biodiversity crises.”

Will this damning evidence be enough to compel more regulation of these risky practices? Likely not. Critics are especially skeptical of any action from the FDA, in part because its food safety division is led by a former executive for Monsanto, one of the biggest GMO manufacturers in the world. And, that’s not the only place industry pressure is being felt. Scientists around the globe are under attack. Check out this documentary trailer highlighting the egregious misconduct.

Let’s put an end to this madness. Here are three things you can do today:
