Are You Concerned About School Food? Help Propel the Revolution!
Healthy Child
Tuesday, September 07, 2010
More and more parents are expressing deep concerns about the quality of food being served in schools. And, many are still unaware that there might be anything to worry about.
Healthy Child is taking our Eat Healthy program to the next level by joining forces with Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution and MomsRising to help propel national efforts to improve school food. Are you interested in helping?
The first step is helping us determine what the main concerns of parents are and how to best empower them. We've developed a very short survey and we need to get as many people as possible to fill it out to help guide our campaign and make it as successful as possible.
Will you please fill it out and share with your social networks?
You can fill out the survey below of find it here: http://bit.ly/schoolfoodsurvey
Jamie Oliver's team is hoping to get feedback within the next week or two, so we'd really appreciate your immediate help spreading the word and encouraging people to take 2 minutes to voice their concerns (or lack thereof - whatever the case may be).
Thank you!

I agree with Jen about parents taking responsibility to make their kids lunch. My kids are not in school yet but I will definitely be making their lunch. I currently work at a hospital and the food is highly processed and very much lacking any nutritional value. I pack a quart size bag of veggies and a salad for lunch every day. I intend to do the same for my kids.
Take care,
Michelle

Jamie O, drop me a line…. a concerned mom/nurse here in Toronto Canada, let’s see how we can work to make change happen here in the North!

I worked in a government school overseas and the food was disgusting, but by the second year they were attempting to make it “better”. Still not food I would have eaten or would serve my own kids. My mom ALWAYS made our lunches and I think that is the best way for parents to take a stand and improve their children’s lunch nutrition. It is not that hard to make a lunch for your child. Involvement from parents, not government is what is needed.

There’s no option on the survey for those of us without children who are also very interested in changing school food. School food is an issue that affects the entire country - not just parents!
