Are YOU the next Mom on a Mission?

Healthy Child
Saturday, August 07, 2010

Last year we received many compelling stories from dynamic women working to make their communities healthier and safer for their children, but one in particular stood out.

Our 2009 Mom on a Mission Winner, Shelby Rodriguez, captured us with her willpower and commitment to ending the pollution caused by a roof-tarring project in her community:

After experiencing symptoms like burning throat, sores in the nose, and a persistent cough caused by the roof tarring project in her community, Shelby got active and distributed flyers, created an online petition, appealed to her local representatives, registered complaints with the Air Quality District, and organized an EPA meeting to demand an end to the pollution. Her endeavors were successful in eliminating the use of asphalt roofing tar in her community!

What a story! We are still moved and inspired by her commitment and passion in creating a healthier environment for her community and children.

Shelby was honored at our 2009 benefit gala. She was flown into Los Angeles, California were she was accommodated with a two night stay at a local green hotel, received an eco-makeover, and was generously given a sophisticated eco outfit by Linda Loudermilk for the evening gala, demonstrating (and rewarding!) her confidence and beauty inside and out.

This month we are looking for the next remarkable woman who will become our 2010 Mom on a Mission Winner. We will honor our winner again in Los Angeles for our October Gala.

Do you know a Mom on a Mission? Or are you a Mom on a Mission?

Nominate that exceptional mom or yourself for the 2010 Mom on a Mission Award.

Nomination period ends August 31, 2010.

Awesome! I cannot wait to share our story about our son’s eczema and how amazing his Belly Boost has been for it. We went through so much together as a family and I really would love to be able to help others with this. Thank you for the contest! :)
