We finally decided to tackle blenders, mixers and mills! We’ve confirmed with each manufacture that the following kitchen appliances are free of BPA, PVC and phthalates on all food-contact surfaces:

Our friends at ZRecs have found several other BPA, PVC and phthalate-free blenders and food processors. You can find the whole list of their researched products here. Keep in mind when looking at the list that not all products listed are BPA, PVC, phthalates-free – but they are very carefully marked with each material used by the manufacturers.

When I started to prepare food for my first child, I looked for a toxic-free option and here is what I found: a stainless steel blender which include a heating option (a little bit like the Baby cook) called Thermomix (http://www.vorwerk.com/thermomix/html/thermomix_tm31.html). It’s an european designed machine but it’s available in USA since many years.
I had the chance to find a used TM21 (an older model) which include a stainless steel inside basket and Varoma (used for steam cooking on top of the blender). To my advice, it’s a better choice than the newer TM31 that include several plastic parts. But that’s still a better choice than all plastic (polycarbonate) blenders and food processors out there.

These chem free items are difficult to find. Kudos on doing the leg work for us. Hope to see food processors, coffee makers, or teflon free rice makers soon!
