The American Business Awards, nicknamed The Stevie Awards, are lovingly known as “the Oscars of the business world”. They were created to honor and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations worldwide. This year, the first ever Best Corporate Environmental Responsibility Program was awarded to Shaklee Corporation.
Shaklee received the award in recognition of numerous innovative projects, partnerships and achievements launched by the company in 2007, the latest in over 50 years of environmental stewardship. For example, in 2000, Shaklee became the first company to achieve certification through the Climate Neutral Network, indicating that all Shaklee’s U.S. operations have a net zero impact on climate change.
In 2007, Shaklee became the first consumer products company to offset 100% of its U.S. greenhouse gas emissions through the EPA’s Climate Leaders program, and to purchase 100% certified Green-e renewable energy to offset its purchased electricity needs.
“We are honored to be recognized for our deep commitment to protect and preserve the environment. Shaklee was founded with the mission of making people and the planet healthier, values which are more relevant now than ever before,” said Shaklee CEO Roger Barnett.
The mission of the Stevie Awards is to raise the profile of exemplary companies and individuals among the press, the business community, and the general public. And, in our opinion, none exemplifies outstanding performance more than Shaklee Corporation. Kudos!

Thanks for pointing this out, Shelley. Healthy Child Healthy World encourages everyone to use the EWG’s Cosmetics Database (www.cosmeticsdatabase.com) to find the safest personal care products.
As far as Shaklee’s products go, we support them as much safer alternatives to most conventional products. We also recognize that no one’s perfect. Whether you’re a parent, a non-profit organization, a government office, or a private business, you have to weigh benefits, risks, and feasibility. We prefer to commend good efforts instead of criticizing flaws. It’s the whole “attracting more bees with honey than with vinegar” philosophy. They are making progress and changing the landscape of the industry. That’s why they received this award and why we tip our hats to them.
Still, thanks for highlighting how important it is for consumers to always be vigilant about ingredients, even from commendable businesses.
