There are 270 million Americans who use cell phones every single day, the majority without any thought for possible side-effects or hazards. For years, scientists have been concerned about the link between longterm exposure to ionizing radiation (those emitted by cell phones) and human health, particularly the development of cancerous tumours. But startling scientific evidence from Europe and Israel is truly sounding an alarm none of us should continue to ignore.
Dr. Memhet Oz dedicated an entire show recently to exploring this topic. He invited Dr. Devra Davis, a longtime member of Healthy Child's Scientific Advisory Board, to weigh in as an expert on this highly contentious issue. Dr. Davis has spent 30 years studying the link between cancer and environmental toxins, most recently in her book, The Secret History of the War on Cancer. Dr. Davis has a particular concern for the effects of cell phone radiation on the brains of young children, and encourages parents to limit their children's exposure as much as possible. Along with a host of practical steps she introduces to avoid any hazards, she stresses above all the Precautionary Principle, saying that its always better to be safe than sorry.
Here are three clips from Dr. Oz's recent show on cell phones and brain cancer, including the simple steps he recommends for keeping the risk of use to a minimum:
