Help Us Win the Grand Prize via Naturalizer!
Healthy Child
Wednesday, April 07, 2010

Last year, Healthy Child Healthy World was awarded a $20,000.00 grant from the women’s shoe company Naturalizer during their annual Friends of Naturalizer contest. This year, we’re the “charity to beat”. Will you help us win this tremendous donation again this year?
Naturalizer, a subsidiary of Brown Shoe, offers stylish yet comfortable footwear for women on the go. From boots to heels to everyday handbags, Naturalizer’s products are made for today’s modern woman as she juggles motherhood, career and all that lies in between!
Available in both the US and Canada, the contest provides consumers a 30% discount when they purchase online or at the brick and mortar locations between April 8th - 12th. During the Friends of Naturalizer 2010 program, Naturalizer will donate $1 for every pair of shoes and/or handbag sold, up to a maximum of $20,000 to the charity that receives the most votes. Naturalizer will donate $1,000 to each of the remaining participating charity finalists. A portion of every purchase goes to charity, and the charity that drives the most sales gets the big prize. Pretty simple, right? Voting begins on April 8th 12:01 am. C.S.T. and will end on April 12th at 11:59pm C.S.T on Naturalizer.com and Naturalizer.ca.
Our community knows that we don't usually do promotions outside of the green and sustainable community, but this generous donation would directy fund our 2010 programs and goals. In these tough economic times, its an opportunity we just can’t ignore. If you're already a Naturalizer fan and plan on buying some summer sandals (or any product, really), please consider doing so between the dates of the contest, so Healthy Child benefits!
When we questioned Brown Shoe about their strides toward environmental sustainability, we were pleased to find they are already on their way to changing the way they make and market their products. To date, they’ve achieved some forward motion in conserving resources and making processes gentler on the planet. A few examples include using 3D graphical models for sample building and approval, reducing the number of molds made; expanding use of vegetable tanning for leathers and reusing up to 60% of the waste water in the tanning process; and reducing energy consumption in their factories by using fluorescent or LED lighting throughout.
Thank you to Naturalizer for this fantastic opportunity, and to the steadfast support of our Health eFamily!
