Holiday Table Talk…Or Not?

Healthy Child
Monday, November 01, 2010

The holidays are coming and it may be the one time you sit down with that crazy uncle or sweet Aunt Jane and have a little chat. Miss Manners tells us not to bring up politics, religion or money at the dinner table, but how about your kid's health?

What do you think? Are toxic exposures (air quality, products, food, etc) suitable dinner conversation? Do you talk about it with your extended family? Any advice for what to do or what not to do? Will you try this Thanksgiving?

How to Participate

  • Original Posts: Write and publish on your blog an original post on the topic, then fill out the form below with your information by 11:59 PM PST Wednesday, November 17. We will review all submissions AND choose ONE post to have an exclusive feature on our homepage and blog on Tuesday, November 23.

Promotion

If you weren't the lucky chosen one for the month, don't fear! We will still spread the word about your post through:

  • Twitter: We will tweet headlines and links of the approved submissions using the hashtag #healthychild. If you use Twitter, we'd love for you to spread the love and retweet these.
  • Facebook: We'll be sharing excerpts of Hot Topic submissions on our Facebook page. If you use Facebook, we ask that you share these on your wall.

Guidelines

  • Please include this text in your post: "This is a Healthy Child Hot Topic- an effort by Healthy Child Healthy World to help inspire a movement to protect children from harmful chemicals."
  • Optional: Please include our logo. You may download it here.
  • Please write on topic and keep your post positive.
  • Please don't use your post to criticize others and please refrain from using profanity.
  • You must be the author of the post and have the rights to publish it on your blog. (In other words, if you wrote the post for a publication, please be sure that you have the rights to republish it on your own blog. Sometimes you're not allowed to do that.)
  • We prefer you write an entirely new post but we will consider recent posts of high quality.
  • Your post may not mention or be about products that you have a financial interest in such as those you sell, receive commission for or have been paid to promote. Additionally, product reviews are not allowed unless: it is a roundup of several brands, you do not have a financial interest in any of them, and you are not being paid to review or promote any of the products.
  • Please submit only one submission per blog.
  • Healthy Child staff has the final approval on which posts will be chosen as the featured "Hot Topic."
