Among the many recalls alarming parents and teachers throughout the United States, another one emerges. This one is found hidden in your kids' jewelry box and may be one of their prized possessions.

A sample testing by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) indicated that about 20% of children's jewelry contains unsafe levels of lead.
Congress is considering posing a ban on imported inexpensive jewelry made in China after the CPSC has recalled such jewelery and still finds imports with dangerous high levels of lead in them.
California officials have decided that the issue is pressing enough to propose a new law to be in effect, banning lead in children's jewelry.
