2009 was a wakeup call in terms of the danger of BPA and hopefully 2010 will be when we begin to appreciate that what we serve our meals on is almost as important as what’s in them. Our featured expert panelists this week are Alicia Voorhies, founder of The Soft Landing, and Kathy Scoleri, founder of SafeMama.com.
Alicia is a mother, a recently retired RN and founder of The Soft Landing. The Soft Landing Store is the first of its kind, offering over 45 brands of 100% BPA, PVC and Phthalate-free products in one convenient place. The goal is to take the headache out of making the switch to safer eating gear for busy parents. She created The Soft Landing Blog as a way to share their years of research with other concerned parents. You’ll find eating gear reviews based on personal experience, updates on current toxic plastic research and quick reference shopping guides. Alicia is also one-third of 3 Green Angels, a marketing, PR, social media, and legal consulting company.
Kathy is a mother of a 4 year old little boy and an 8 month old baby boy, a working mom, an author and woman of many trades. In 2007, she found it completely overwhelming spending so much time researching product safety and thought that she must not be the only parent scouring the Internet for information about things that affect children’s health. So she started SafeMama™ to keep it all in one place. SafeMama™ serves parents as a resource to find information to help them protect their kids. It’s a site where parents can go to find what they need to make educated and informed decisions.
