  • Pesticides linked 2 asthma, cancer, learning disabilities, reproductive disorders, and more.
  • Prevent pests through good sanitation and food storage habits, and by preventing their entry structurally.
  • Take off your shoes at the door to prevent tracking pesticides indoors.

  • Ventilate by opening windows, even for a few minutes/day. It’s the 2nd best solution after prevention.
  • Test for radon and install carbon monoxide and smoke detectors.
  • Step #4: Eat healthy – what r your family’s healthy eating tips?
  • The easiest way to eat healthier is to make ur food instead of buying processed convenience foods.
  • Look for foods with few and identifiable ingredients.
  • Buy organic when possible – esp “dirty dozen” produce w/most pesticide residue http://healthychild.org/5steps/5_steps_4/
  • Step #5: Be Wise with plastics – how can we reduce use of plastic?
  • Plastic is generally toxic to produce, toxic to use, and toxic to dispose of.
  • Look for natural alternatives like textiles, solid wood, bamboo, glass, stainless steel, etc.
  • Esp avoid using plastics with food and bev (hot, fatty, acidic foods promote chemical leaching).

QUESTION 2: What steps have you found easiest/most difficult?

  • Most people find taking off shoes at door and making their own cleaners the easiest.
  • Cost is always an obstacle. Don’t beat yourself up 4 what u can’t do. Kudos 4 what u can.

My family is now aware of all the harmful chemicals that are found in our homes! We have educated ourselves and now belong to a great health and wellness company! We buy safer, healthier and more economic products each month! We have already seen a huge improvement in our asthma, sleep patterns, allergies and to name a few! With 5 children this has been awesome! Now we help other families to make their homes safe and families healthy!
