Mother Knows Best: Mommy Bloggers as a Force for Social Change

A true force to be reckoned with, mommy bloggers are impacting corporate behavior and government policy and we know many of you reading this are a part of the choir.
One of the more organized virtual voices is the Green Moms Carnival whom we feature every month, because they’re an outstanding bunch of people. This month they’ve come out in full force expressing their disdain for toxic chemicals in baby care products and their support for the Kid-Safe Chemicals Act. In typical form, the diversity of voices is enlightening, informative, entertaining (and this month a bit incendiary – inspiring an interesting debate).
They are calling on each one of us to hold companies accountable for their products and to give parents full disclosure about ingredients. They are calling on each one of us to support the Kid-Safe Chemicals Act by signing the declaration and contacting our legislators. They are calling on each one of us to help spread the word.
I feel the tides shifting and I’m so grateful for these mommy bloggers rocking the boat. What are YOU waiting for? Check out the Green Moms Carnival and use our Healthy Community Tool Kit to become a voice for change.
p.s. You don’t have to be a mom. The Green Moms Carnival has expanded the definition to Earth mothers, Earth caretakers, sons of mothers, and more. Everyone’s welcome in this family!

As a grandmother I’m fascinated with the Mommy Blogs! I can see how they can be a real force in the world today. And I’m glad to see the green movement being promoted at the same time. Hooray!
