On January 20th, following the inauguration of Barack Obama, Jim and I attended a special celebratory reception on The Hill. Senator Barbara Boxer has been a stalwart champion for children's environmental health. In 1995, she introduced The Children's Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) in memory of our daughter, Colette Chuda
It was an honor to visit with her and present our book, Healthy Child Healthy World: Creating a Cleaner, Greener, Safer Home, now in it's third printing. As Chair of the Environmental Committee for Public Works, she expressed her desire to continue to amend portions of CEPA onto federal legislation to consider the special and unique vulnerabilities of children, pregnant women and the elderly. She offered her sincere congratulations to us as founders on behalf of Healthy Child Healthy World.

We also visited with past Healthy Child Board Member now Senator Sheldon Whitehouse. For more than 20 years, Sheldon Whitehouse has served the people of Rhode Island by championing health care reform, standing up for our environment, helping solve fiscal crises, and investigating public corruption.
Now, he's putting his experience as a seasoned prosecutor and policymaker to work for Rhode Island in the U.S. Senate, where his election helped bring new leadership to Congress and set our country on a different course. We were delighted to have the opportunity to reconnect and honored by his willingness to continue to support Healthy Child Healthy World.
