Debra Claire - Founder of Perfect Organics
I established Perfect Organics in 2003 because I wanted to create luxurious and effective organic, vegan and chemical-free alternatives to conventional body care products. I firmly believe that there can be no long term health or beauty without clean air, soil, and water and that serves as the underlying philosophy for all Perfect Organics offerings. When you keep the environment in mind and honor the integrity and efficacy of naturally occurring ingredients while formulating, you come up with a product that feels great, smells incredible, and is healthier and more effective than conventional products.
Although my mother is a chemist specializing in natural formulations and I was fortunate to spend time in labs and on ingredient sourcing trips as a child, it was while working as a professional make-up artist and seeing products laden with toxic ingredients that I realized I wanted to create a line of completely organic and vegan products. I had never fully appreciated my environmentally conscious upbringing until my work in commercial make-up artistry demanded that I used products filled with synthetic ingredients. I knew I had a better choice to make and so I decided to create Perfect Organics. When I envisioned Perfect Organics, I used sustainability as my guiding principle. I wanted Perfect Organics to be ‘green from start to finish’. Our office space in metro Washington, D.C. is completely eco-friendly. Beyond the bamboo floors, no-VOC paints, and eco-friendly furniture, we reuse boxes for shipments, off-set our carbon, and rarely turn on a light in our fishbowl office.
As a green business leader, I see every choice we make as an opportunity to support sustainable practices that reflect the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit. It is an honor and privilege to partner with Healthy Child Healthy World as it is through our collaborations that we will raise awareness on the importance of toxic-free, eco-friendly lifestyle choices.
