Take Action, Californians! Support Legislation to Remove BPA!

Healthy Child
Saturday, May 23, 2009

Our partners at the Environmental Working Group need the help of all Californian's today to pass the state's Toxics-Free Babies and Toddlers Act - important legislation that EWG sponsored and is working hard to pass.

This bill recently passed the senate environment and health committees and is soon headed for a tough vote on the senate floor. Your state senator needs to hear that you want this bill to pass!

Click here today to email your state senator - it's quick, but could make all the difference.

Why the Toxics-Free Babies & Toddlers Act?
This legislation will protect vulnerable young children from a toxic chemical that can adversely affect their health. Bisphenol-A, widely known as BPA, is a hormone-disrupting chemical found in many of the products we use everyday to feed our children. It contaminates kids' food and drink when it leaches from products like metal food and infant formula cans, jar lids, and plastic bottles and sippy cups.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) are concerned about the safety of current BPA exposures for infants and children - as are we. The chemical has been linked to behavioral changes, breast cancer and prostate cancer.

And there is currently no requirement whatsoever to prevent your child from being exposed. The Toxics-Free Babies and Toddlers Act will change all this in California - and set an important precedent for the nation - by virtually eliminating the amount of BPA allowed to leach from baby bottles, sippy cups, formula cans, and baby food jars.

Speak up to protect California kids from BPA!

I'm asking our California fans (that's you!) to support us on this bill today because the opposition is out in full force, and to pass this bill supporters need to speak just as loudly. That's where you come in!

Help us move this bill one giant step closer to becoming law - click here now to ask your state senators to vote "yes" on the Toxics-Free babies and Toddlers Act.

Thank you for supporting our efforts -  we're stronger together.

Please take action now. They need our support. It is our children that this type of legislation affects. Without our voice this cannot move forward.
