Tweet with Us About a Food Revolution for Our Health and the Planet!
Healthy Child
Monday, April 19, 2010
Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution is the buzz around the water cooler these days and while we’re big supporters of his efforts, we want to add another ingredient to the uprising. Actually, subtracting an ingredient may be a better way to put it – we want to eliminate toxic chemicals from our food! It’s pretty ludicrous, but toxics are ubiquitous in our current food system – food is grown using toxic chemicals, processed using toxic chemicals, packaged using toxic chemicals, cooked in pans with toxic chemicals, and served and stored in containers containing toxic chemicals. It should come as no surprise that the personal health implications of lacing our food with toxics are not good, but these practices are also poisoning the planet.
Join us on Earth Day, Thursday April 22nd, at 6pmPST/9pmEST to tweet about revolutionizing how we eat. From choosing better foods and storing them in safer containers to working with your child’s school cafeteria or even your local grocer, there are innumerable ways, large and small, that each one of us can help support this imperative revolution.
We have amazing prizes and stellar expert panelists! Joining us this week will be:
• Dr. Alan Greene, green pediatrician extraordinaire who has been called “the Al Gore of Parenting” and whose latest book, “Feeding Baby Green,” is considered the new “baby feeding bible.”
• Dr. Marion Nestle, one of the country’s premier food policy experts; author of "Food Politics," "What to Eat," and three other books; and Paulette Goddard Professor in the Department of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health and Professor of Sociology at New York University.
• Alexandra Zissu, writer, editor, speaker, and greenproofing authority whose latest book, The Conscious Kitchen is a definitive guide to revolutionizing your family’s diet and cooking habits. She also has two books due out in 2011 – one with a grass-fed and organic meat butcher, the other with the co-founder of Seventh Generation.
This party is bound to be the best Twitter Party yet! Get up to speed on healthy eating by reading Chapter 3 – A Clean Plate – of the Healthy Child Book!
