Wee Generation Eco-Baby Bag Launch!

Healthy Child
Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Wee Generation’s dream team of eco-experts with extensive experience in both the environmental and baby product professions, have completed the design for an eco-friendly, Cradle to Cradle-certifiable baby bag made from 100% PVC-free materials and recycled plastic bottles. Take a look inside the bag with Executive Director, Christopher Gavigan.

Wee Generation Bag
See and purchase the much-anticipated diaper bag, in development since last summer, and appropriate for both mom and dad. The eco-chic bag went on sale to the general public on June 11th for $200 with 100% of profits supporting Healthy Child Healthy World.

The notion of the quintessential diaper bag was re-conceptualized and collaboratively designed in partnership by Seventh Generation – the nation’s premier provider of non-toxic and environmentally-friendly home cleaning, personal care and baby products; William McDonough – the acclaimed green architect and visionary; IDEO – one of the world’s most innovative design firms; Healthy Child Healthy World – the primary children’s environmental health eco-advocacy non-profit and Rickshaw Bagworks – a leading manufacturer and designer of sustainable urban bags.

“Wee Generation’s eco-friendly baby bag is an important development in consumer goods,” said William McDonough, green architect and environmental designer. “The initiative sets the pace for an environmentally-intelligent industry and will continue to change how goods are created and repurposed going forward.”

To influence the design process, current and future parents weighed in online and shared their own stories and insights of baby bag usage. Site visitors also registered to win limited-edition versions of the bag and other green prizes, learned the importance of eco-friendly products to a family’s health and followed the development of the bag as it evolved from concept to retail product and received helpful hints on planning eco-friendly events such as baby showers – just like Sheryl Crow’s own event welcoming her new son, Wyatt, which Wee Generation co-hosted. See Sheryl discuss motherhood and Healthy Child Healthy World.

Thank for posting these products. I’m getting awesome ideas for gifts for my daddy to be! I’m always perusing online for eco baby products that are discounted! Some of the stuff can be so expensive. I’m trying not to leave my house so close to my delivery date so it’s great to find items like this!

This looks like a great bag for dudes! I don’t think my husband would mind carrying this around.

Wow, this looks really good. My sister is always saying her baby bag is useless when I she comes over with my nephew. I’m gonna recommend this to her, she loves all things eco friendly too.

For baby bags, only PVC-free, Teflon-free, and Lead-free bags can be put on the candidate list. This diaper bag has PVC-free waterproof, wipe-clean liner, a real bonus.
