About the Event

EWG's Healthy Child Healthy World annual Los Angeles gala will celebrate the organization's important efforts to protect children from harmful chemicals. This year's gala is very special, as it will celebrate the second year of EWG and Healthy Child Healthy World's partnership. At the event, the organizations will unveil groundbreaking new work on how we think about children's health and pollution. From the rise of childhood cancer and obesity rates, to increases in youth developmental problems, EWG's Healthy Child Healthy World program is dedicated to understanding and reversing the negative trajectory of our children's health. We hope you'll join us in this fight.

The State of Children’s Health & the Environment in America
an introduction to EWG’s Jonas Initiative for Children’s Environmental Health

America has never had a greater opportunity to make the health, safety and well-being of our children the centerpiece of efforts to clean up the toxic chemicals and pollutants contaminating our environment and consumer products. To seize this opportunity, EWG’s Healthy Child Healthy World program has developed a breakthrough initiative with support from the Jonas Family Foundation. The initiative is built on four pillars:

• Cutting-edge science on the latest environmental links to children’s health.
• New, independent health and safety standards that protect kids from air and water pollution, and hazardous chemicals in consumer products.
• New, practical tools that make healthy living easy for families as they shop for food, personal care products, household cleaners, furniture, clothing and other staples of everyday life.
• Collaboration with the new heroes who lead the movement for children’s environmental health in the private sector, the government and scientific research.

In this talk, Cook, a renowned environmentalist, will provide an exciting, 30,000-foot perspective of our new initiative on children’s health.
