Avoid vinyl products entirely as they are easily replaceable.
Vinyl wallpapers are made with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) which off-gas phthalates. Avoid toxic adhesives too, use non-toxic alternatives!

 


 

Lead  is still a leading hazard in older homes especially when disturbed during remodeling. Please visit the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to learn where lead is found.


 

Standard paints have solvents that emit volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) like benzene, styrene, toluene, xylene, and formaldehyde. Some VOC’s are carcinogenic (cancer causing) or neurotoxic (nervous system disruptors) and cause lesser symptoms like headaches and fatigue, trigger asthma, and are eye, skin and airway irritants.
