Is one brand of screen better than another?

Studies have shown that certain sunscreen brands and products are both ineffective and potentially harmful. Look over the Environmental Working Groups list of recommended sunscreens and sunscreens to avoid for detailed information. You can also visit our marketplace.

What should I look for on the label of my sunscreen? And what ingredients should I avoid?

The best products provide protection from UVA and UVB rays, also known as broad spectrum UV coverage. Make sure your sunscreen is water resistant so it is not removed during sweating or swimming. As a rule, always look for at least 7% zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Check out the Environmental Working Group’s list of recommended sunscreens or visit our marketplace for safe and healthy choices.

When should my child be wearing sunscreen?

Anytime they are in the sun! Harmful rays emitted by the sun can cause skin cancer, eye damage, and more. Anytime your child is in the sun, they should be wearing sunscreen with at least SPF15. Learn more about sun safety.
