Make It:
Kids do tend to eat the same fruit over and over, which is why it’s important to choose organic fruit when possible and also to expose them to as many different types as possible, because each has it’s own unique offering of healthy vitamins and minerals.
This delicious dip has only three ingredients, and kids of every age can make it themselves by putting the yogurt, maple syrup and vanilla in a bowl and stirring with a teaspoon until they are well combined. This simple dip goes well with every fruit – from apples to apricots, grapes to guavas, strawberries to star fruit… And when fruit isn’t at it’s absolute best (a less than sweet peach or a slightly soft apple for example) the dip helps conceal the imperfections and ensure it’s still a delicious treat!
Clean It:
Choose organic apples, grapes, peaches, and strawberries -- their conventional counterparts often carry pesticide residues, according to the Environmental Working Group's Shopper's Guide to Pesticides.
Green It:
Buy yogurt in larger containers to realize a per-ounce cost savings and an environmental savings, too: according to the University of Michigan's Center for Sustainable Systems' study for Stonyfield Farm, it takes fewer resources to produce and transport larger yogurt containers than smaller ones.
Make It Fun:
Serve the dip in unusual or interesting containers, or let the kids make designs and smiley faces on their dip with pieces of fruit.
