Tandoori Paneer

Ready to try your hand at Indian cooking? Our version of Tandoori Paneer is mild enough for your baby, and she’ll love the taste of this Indian cheese, with its trademark lemon zing. You should be able to find Paneer at your grocery store or specialty market.

4. Also steam cauliflower in a separate pot until fork tender (approx. 10 minutes)

5. In a bowl, combine cinnamon, turmeric, garam masala, salt, pepper and 1 tablespoon oil. Mix until combined.

6. Add in paneer and lemon juice and mix together gently.

7. Let marinate for 10 minutes.

8. Heat remaining 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium heat.

9. Add paneer mixture and stir.

10. Saute for 3-5 minutes, stirring often.

11. In a large bowl, mix together cooked rice, cooked paneer, cooked cauliflower and yogurt. For younger babies, puree in a food processor to desired consistency.

MAKE IT FUN

Baby: Have them smell the herbs, especially as you simmer them with the paneer – it is so aromatic!

Tots: Have them help, and assist them in measuring out the spices. Stir all the ingredients together and serve the meal for everyone! You will see their big smile since they helped make the dish and then serve it!

I made this recipe using tofu instead of paneer (there isn't a good source for paneer here and I didn't have time to make any) and it turned out really great. It was very simple to make and my baby couldn't get enough. I sometimes make paneer as it is simple and I use the resulting whey as a wholesome soup stock. This was a quick dish and a family-pleaser. Thanks!
