Ninety percent of the energy used for washing clothes goes to heating the water. Switch the setting from hot to warm and cut your load's energy consumption by half. Also, wash less. Seriously - if there's no smell or stains...why? All that energy, water, time, when no one will really know the difference?

I wash MOST of our clothes with cold water! Comes out very clean.
