To become an Alliance Partner of Healthy Child Healthy World, businesses must request and complete an application, pass our formal screening process, and meet our Healthy Child criteria.

The Screening Process
After an initial request and application is completed, HCHW conducts initial research on the company and the product. During the screening process, we consider a number of environmental attributes that include:
- Human health — relating to ingredients, toxicity, and health effects on the adult user and children
- Environmental health — relating to environmental impact and sustainability; life cycle assessment, reusability, energy efficiency, biodegradable, renewable, transportation, biodiversity, greenhouse gases, climatic relevance, responsible packaging, recycled content, intelligent design, responsible manufacturing techniques, and reduction of environmental impact, and land impact
- Social responsibility — relating to the company's policies, ethics, fair labor statement, health and safety, local community, child labor, and stakeholder relationships
These criteria help the public understand that all products listed are truly green, trustworthy, and safe for the home, planet, and family.
Final Approval - Data Collection & Full Disclosure
Healthy Child also will use one of two methods to complete final approval on products and services:
- Data Collection — HCHW requests existing third-party certification seals or logos. Products possessing one or more of the logos we accept will be granted the “Recommended” trademark. Certification seals accepted are: USDA Organic, Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), Green Seal, GreenGuard Environmental, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Cradle to Cradle, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), JPMA.
- Full Disclosure — We require manufacturers to fully disclose all ingredients and manufacturing processes (i.e. MSDS), and require a signed affidavit guaranteeing that the environmental attributes we are screening the product for are valid and true.
After all documentation is submitted, HCHW will approve or veto the product. If the Committee vetoes a product, it is not listed on the site and does not become an official alliance partner.
Products approved through our formal screening process receive the "Recommended" mark and are listed on HealthyChild.org.
