10 Craft Ideas to do With Puppy Coloring Pages
Puppies are adorable little furballs that love to play and explore. With soft fur, wagging tails, tiny barks, and big eyes, puppies have a way of making anyone’s heart melt. Especially when they give big, wet kisses! If you’ve got your very own puppy, then you know just how much fun they can be. Pups enjoy chasing their tails, playing fetch, and taking long naps. They are similar to children as they need guidance and to learn as they grow. When you get a puppy, you have to teach them how to be well behaved, use the bathroom outdoors, and to not nip or bite. You must feed and water them several times a day, bring them on walks, and help them make new doggy friends. With the proper care and guidance, your puppy is sure to grow up into a wonderful companion to have by your side for years to come.

1. Puppy-Themed Wall Art
Make a new statement piece for your wall with this activity.
Start by choosing any puppy coloring page and bring it to life. If your picture doesn’t have a background, you can hand draw one in like a true artist!
Simply pop this coloring page into any unused frame that’s lying around the house or make your own.
To make your own, find a piece of cardboard that’s slightly bigger than the coloring page. Cut out the center of it, leaving a rectangle frame. Tape your coloring page so it shows through the hole. Decorate your frame with colored paper, glitter, gems, etc.
2. Puppy-Themed Party Invites
Bring on the tail-wagging fun by hosting a puppy-themed birthday party for your child this year.
Make invitations at home to not only bring excitement, but save money, too!
Let the star of the party pick out their favorite puppy coloring page. Either you or your child can color it in. Add stickers, glitter, stamps, etc to catch your guests’ attention.
Fill in the blank spaces with the details of your party.
Make photocopies or repeat those steps as many times as you need.
Local libraries sometimes have photocopy machines that you can use for as low as 20 cents per print!
3. Puppy Training Certificates
Did your family recently adopt a new furry friend? Encourage your children to help train your new pup by making training certificates!
You’ll want to use a blank piece of paper or cardstock as your base.
Print out a puppy coloring page at 50% the original size. Pick out one that looks like your pup!
Color in the picture and cut it out. Glue this to your blank paper.
Write your dog’s name, date of training completion, and trainer’s name (your child’s!).
This will show your child that their training help has taught your puppy the skills they need to make fine companions.
4. DIY Puppy Masks
This is a fun project to do at that puppy-themed birthday party we talked about!
Choose a puppy coloring page that portrays a face.
Allow each party-goer to color and design their pup however they’d like.
Cut out the eye areas. Use a hole punch or pencil to poke a hole on both the left and right side of the coloring page head.
Thread ribbon or string through the holes and tie it around each child’s head.
Don’t forget to take a group photo so you have warm memories of this day for years to come!
5. Personalized Puppy Bookmarks
No more “dog earring” your book pages with this project!
Cut out skinny strips of colored paper. Roughly 2-3 inches wide by 4-6 inches long.
Pick out a cute puppy coloring page. Scale down in size to around 50% when printing to ensure it fits your strip of paper.
Color the puppy and cut it out. Glue onto your paper strip. Embellish with glitter, stamps, stickers, and names if you wish. Don’t forget to draw paw prints and bones to tie in with the theme.
Allow bookmark to fully dry before using it.
6. Puppy Action Figures
Using a coloring page to make an action figure sounds tricky, but I promise it’s not!
Start by picking out a coloring page that calls your name. Color as you normally would.
Then, cut the puppy out and glue it onto a piece of cardboard. Trim the cardboard so it’s also in the shape of the puppy.
Make your base next. Using a smaller piece of cardboard, cut a notch into the middle of it. Attach that to the bottom of your puppy so it stands upright.
You can make cardboard accessories, such as a collar, bones, and dog toys so your action figure is interactive!
7. Puppy-Themed Wall Banners
Make your child’s room cuddly and fun by DIYing a banner for their wall.
Choose a few puppy coloring pages to print. I suggest using cardstock for extra stability. Spend time with your child as you color them in. Add embellishments such as glitter, stamps, ribbons, etc. if you’d like.
Cut each puppy out and either staple or glue them onto a piece of string or twine. Tie loops at each end of the string.
Simply hang this up on your child’s wall or from the ceiling.
These also make great decorations for a puppy-themed birthday party!
8. Customized Notebook Covers
Make your boring notebook puptastic with these coloring page options!
You’ll need a blank notebook for this. Use on that’s your favorite color to really make it custom.
Choose one, or even a few, puppy coloring pages to print. Color them however you’d like.
Cut out each puppy. Then, simply glue them to the front cover of your notebook.
You can stop there if you’d like, but I prefer to embellish with things such as names, stickers, colored tape, glitter, stamps, etc to really make it my own.
Do this to your school notebooks to bridge creativity with education!
9. Puppy Puzzle Pieces
Puzzles are a fun tool to teach children dexterity and problem solving. Let’s make it cute, too, by creating a puppy puzzle.
Start by printing any puppy coloring page onto a piece of cardstock (so it’s stable).
Either you or your child can color it in.
Flip your paper over and trace out puzzle piece shapes. If you have a similar sized puzzle at home, just trace those pieces to make this step easy!
Cut along your lines and let your child build!
If you have a laminating machine at home, laminate your page before cutting so your puzzle lasts longer.
10. DIY Door Hangers
Make this project to go along with the puppy banner that we made earlier!
Start by printing out a puppy coloring page on half of a piece of paper. Be creative and bring it to life.
Using a colored piece of paper, or even cardboard, cut out a long rectangle. Now cut a circle hole large enough to fit over your door knob. If you’re using cardboard, make it more appealing by using markers or paint.
Cut out and glue your puppy to the door hanger base.
Add extra fun such as your child’s name, ribbons, little bells, glitter, etc.
