9 Craft Ideas to Do with Zebra Coloring Pages
Framed Zebra Wall Art
Once you or your child has finished coloring their page, you can simply pop that piece of paper into any empty frame that’s laying around the house! To DIY your own frame, bust out the popsicle sticks and glue! Start by placing popsicle sticks around the outer edges of your coloring sheet. You may need to cut them with scissors to create a seamless fit (adults, please assist young children with this step). Once you’ve laid out enough sticks to completely frame in your artwork, start to glue each popsicle stick into place. To hang on the wall, glue a pop can tab to the backside of your paper. A loop of string would also work.
3D Zebra Cut-Out Figures
You can make your zebra 3D to stand on a shelf or desk. To do this, you’ll need: 2 of the same coloring pages, scissors, glue, and something to use as a spacer (ex: trimmed popsicle sticks, cardboard pieces, toilet paper tubes, strips of cardstock folded accordion style). Start by coloring both pages to match one another. Carefully cut out your zebras. Glue your choice of spacers to the backside of one of the cut out zebras. Once all spacers are in place, add glue to the ends of them and place the other zebra on top. We recommend gluing a piece of paper to the bottom of your project to help provide a little extra support. Your zebra should now stand on its own!
Hanging Zebra Ceiling Decor
For this fun craft, you’ll need the following: as many zebras as you’d like to hang, string (We recommend fishline), paperclips, scissors, and a hole punch if you have one. Start by coloring all of your zebras in any way you wish. Next, cut out all the images. If you have a hole punch, choose a spot at the top of your zebra to place a hole. You can also use scissors for this step by gently folding the portion of your paper where you’d like the hole and slightly snipping the folded part. Loop a portion of string through each hole and tie it. You can add paperclips to the string for easy hanging!
Decorative Zebra Wall Calendar
For this project, choose as many different zebra image varieties as you’d like. Find a website that allows you to print off free calendar pages. Color all of your zebras and even add color to the calendars if you’d like. Once finished with that, line up each coloring page with a calendar sheet. You can either place strips of tape on the back to connect the 2 together, or staple them as well. To put all of your new calendar pages together, use a hole punch or scissors to make holes in the top of each page and tie together with string. This makes a cute way to keep track of all of the important dates!
Zebra-Themed Book Covers
Do you remember making book covers out of paper bags in school? Using zebra coloring pages to make a book cover is very similar to that, and much more appealing! Start by printing out and coloring 1-2 pages. Once you’re done letting your imagination run wild, you can get started on the base that you’ll be gluing your images to. We will be using paper grocery bags for this part. Cut open your bag so it lays flat. Lay your book open on top of the bag and trace around it so you can cut the appropriate size. We recommend tracing a little bit away from the long edges of your book so you’re able to wrap the paper bag inside a little bit prior to taping down. Cut out your book shape, fold it around your book and securely tape down. Now you can glue your zebra coloring pages onto the front or the front and back of your new book cover to add personality and style! You may need to trim your coloring pages a bit so they fit if your book is smaller than the pages.
Zebra Paper Lanterns
Have you seen Chinese paper lanterns? If so, you’ll be able to picture this project easily! You’re going to need: a zebra coloring page, 2 blank pieces of paper in whatever color you desire (slightly smaller in size than the coloring page), scissors, glue, tape, decorations (stickers, gems, glitter, etc), and fairy lights or a battery operated tea light candle. Start by coloring your zebra page. Once you’re done with that, start to make the base of your lantern by rolling one of the blank sheets of paper into a tube. Tape each end of the blank paper together to keep the tube shape. With part of the other blank sheet of paper, trace the end of your tube. You should end up with a circle. Cut the circle out and tape to the bottom of your tube. Then, fold your zebra coloring page in half and cut slits into it (starting at the folded crease). Be sure to leave an inch or 2 uncut at the end of each slit so you can attach your zebra to the base! These slits can be as skinny or wide as you wish. The zebra coloring sheet is going to be wrapped around the tube base you made. Securely glue down your uncut edge as you go. With the remaining part of the second blank sheet of paper, you can create a handle for your lantern by cutting a strip of paper and attaching it to the top. To make your lantern light up, stuff it with fairy lights or a battery operated tea light candle. DO NOT use real fire to light your lantern.
Children’s Zebra Room Wall Art
This project is similar to #1, framed wall art. Allow your child to color the zebra of their choice. Have them try to match the color of their zebra to the color scheme of their bedroom! Add their name to the coloring page for a touch of personality. To hang on the wall, either put into a frame or DIY your own using the popsicle stick method. This is a delightful way to allow your child to be a part of how they decorate their bedroom and proudly show off their craftiness.
Zebra Window Art
Use our zebra coloring pages as templates to add a pop of color to any window! Whether it be your car or your home, this is yet another cute way to display your child’s artwork or even your own. You’ll need window markers, window paint, or washable markers for this little project. Print out any zebra coloring page, as many as you’d like. Tape the zebra page to the opposite side of the window that you’re working on. Trace each zebra with the window-friendly marker/paint. Once you have an outline, color or paint to fill in! As long as you’re using something washable, you’ll be able to easily remove and redo as many times as you wish. DO NOT use permanent markers or permanent paint as you will ruin your window.
Zebra Greeting Cards and Invitations
Know somebody that adores zebras as much as we do? Make their day by giving them a personalized zebra card! This project is rather easy. You’ll print and color your zebra coloring page as usual. Once you’re finished, simply write your greetings right onto the page in any open space! It works the same for invitations – color and fill in the blank spots with the details of your party. If you’d like to make a folding card or invitation, you can surely do that, too. You’ll need a blank sheet of paper in addition to your zebra coloring page. Have scissors and glue handy as well. Color and cut out your zebra. Fold your blank piece of paper whichever way you wish. Glue the zebra to the front of your card/invitation.
